Welcome to the Captol City Rifle Club Pistol Team website!
OUR MISSION:
To promote the shooting sports by providing a fun, safe, and enriching environment for training and competition. In order to ensure future generations enjoy the shooting opportunities currently available, we are especially interested in new and inexperienced shooters. Expanding knowledge and education by training younger shooters is beneficial to the participants, the mentors or trainers, and the sport itself.
Competition shooting is a challenging pursuit that requires dedication, honesty, responsibility, intelligence, and integrity that has far reaching effects that do not stop at the firing line. Some of the best individuals on the face of the earth you will find shooting next to you on the competition line.
About Us:
We are a small winter indoor 22lr bullseye pistol team.We shoot competitively every week from
December through April in the Central Michigan Rifle and Pistol League.
Our team is full of professional people that have very unique
backgrounds.We have physicians,
students, dentists, professors, teachers, farmers, cops, housewives, high schoolers, engineers,
architects, and one guy we are still trying to figure out.Other then our love of
competition pistol shooting, we have absolutely nothing in common with each
other and you are not going to fit in either.
We have some shooters that have been on the team forever, and others who
have shot in the past, did not shoot for a while for various reasons, and then
rejoined a couple years later. We also have
a few newbies that are just getting their feet wet.We keep in touch with our former shooters who have moved out of
state and we are always on the lookout for new people with positive attitudes
to join us on the firing line. Newbies are especially welcome!
Our current lineup consists of a dozen teammates that
participate in most of the matches, a handful of shooters that show up a couple
times a year, and two groupies.
What We Do:
Every fall, we start practicing together for our winter indoor
bullseye season.Once the season
starts, every week we will gather at either our home range or travel to our competitors
range and shoot a shoulder to shoulder 900 point 22lr rimfire bullseye match. All practices and matches are immediately
followed by a light meal at a convenient establishment to go over the days
proceedings.Most matches start at
7:00pm on a Thursday Night
Personally, I am not sure what I enjoy most, the shoulder to
shoulder completion, calling a good, clean match, or the after match wrap up at
the closest watering hole.I think the
watering hole might be best but the jury is still out.
We shoot in the Central Michigan Rifle and Pistol league and
we shoot against other teams that are from Ionia, Ithaca, Jackson,
and Lansing.Half the matches are at
our home range and we will travel to our opponents range for the away
matches.
