Our History:
The Capitol City Rifle Club has been in existence for almost 100 years. While we do not know how long the pistol team has been shooting, I personally first shot with the CCRC Pistol Team in 1977.
At that point in time (1977), the CCRC Pistol Team was shooting matches in the basement of Demonstration Hall on the Campus of Michigan State University. From my understanding, they had been shooting in demo hall since the early sixties. Once Demonstration Hall was closed to competitive shooting, the CCRC Pistol Team called home to quite a number of ranges around the Lansing Area. One memorable range was the top floor of a hardware store in Grand Ledge that required careful navigation of a treacherous flight of stairs. It helped if you didn't have any regards to personal safety, sort of a close your eyes and hope for the best type of thing. When this range closed, we moved to Chief Okemos Rifle Club in Dimondale for a couple seasons. For the last 15 years, the Capital Area Sportsman’s League has provided a range for our use at their facilities on the West Side of Lansing.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the Capital Area Sportsman’s League for their hospitality and support. Good people over there and a monster thank you from the CCRC Pistol Team! I do not know how to adequately express our gratitude to the CASL organization. You will not find a higher quality group of individuals on the face of the earth.
For the 2014-2015 season, we are coming back home to the MSU Campus and the MSU Demmer facility will be our home range. While we are excited to be returning to MSU, every one of us tips our hat and takes a deep bow of respect to the Capitol Area Sportsman's League. I personally hope that I can live up to the high standards demonstrated by CASL.
Sincerely,
George
